    Horses love treats! It’s a well known fact. Did you know though that making your own horse treats is really easy, and also economical? In today’s blog we wanted to share with you some recipes that you can use to make your own horse treats. Best of all, you can experiment with these recipes and add flavours that you know your horse loves. Happy baking!


    1. Carrot and Apple Horse Treats

    Ingredients:

    - 2 large carrots, grated

    - 1 large apple, grated

    - 1/2 cup molasses or honey

    - 2 1/2 cups oats

    - 1/2 cup flour


    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 175°C.
    2. Mix the grated carrots and apple in a large bowl.
    3. Add the molasses or honey to the mixture and stir until well combined.
    4. Gradually add the oats and flour, mixing until you have a thick dough.
    5. Roll the dough into small balls or flatten them into cookie shapes.
    6. Place the treats on a greased baking sheet.
    7. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
    8. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your horse.

    1. Peppermint and Oat Horse Treats

    Ingredients:

    - 1 cup rolled oats

    - 1 cup flour

    - 1/2 cup molasses

    - 1/2 cup water

    - 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)

    - 1/2 cup grated carrots or apples (optional for added flavor and nutrition)


    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 175°C.
    2. In a large bowl, mix the oats and flour.
    3. Add the molasses, water, and peppermint extract to the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
    4. If using, fold in the grated carrots or apples.
    5. Shape the mixture into small balls or cookies and place them on a greased baking sheet.
    6. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the treats are firm.
    7. Let the treats cool completely before offering them to your horse.

    1. Banana and Oat Horse Treats

    Ingredients:

    - 2 ripe bananas, mashed

    - 1/4 cup molasses or honey

    - 2 cups oats

    - 1 cup flour

    - 1/4 cup water (if needed)


    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 175°C.
    2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas and molasses or honey until well combined.
    3. Add the oats and flour, mixing until you have a thick dough. If the dough is too dry, add a little water until it reaches the right consistency.
    4. Roll the dough into small balls or flatten them into cookie shapes.
    5. Place the treats on a greased baking sheet.
    6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
    7. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your horse.
